Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–6 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. I own my own business and own a Mercedes Sprinter 2500. I've been taking it for oil changes and preventive maintenance to the dealer. I decided to try Potters because my family takes their import cars to them for service. I was blown away by the service and customer service they provide. At the dealership for this kind of service they have my van for 5 to 6 days. Potters had it serviced and back to me the next day. They told me what to watch out for and what services may be needed in the future. There was no pressure or "upsell' like I found at the dealership. Plus he did it for half the cost. He went through my bill with me and made sure I understood what I was paying for. Now I compared an old dealership bill / work order and his work order. The price in labor was significantly lower than the dealership. The per hour labor charge was less than half! Would i ever go back to the dealer, bi way. Thanks Potters for being ethical and transparent. They are very honest. Ill see you guys in the future.

After recently purchasing two used BMWs for family, a classic 1999 M3 and a beautiful 2015 335i, a few of those inevitable older BMW issues popped up on both cars. The M3's 27 year old radiator sprang a leak from its plastic hose fittings. Tom was great about using an all aluminum high performance radiator we found at ECS tuning, a beautiful piece and cheaper than OEM. While the car was in the shop we also replaced a damaged tire and serviced all the fluids (oil, differential, gearbox, coolant, power steering, brake, clutch), and installed a set of stainless steel brake lines. I had a chance to drive and inspect the car. The work looks flawless and the car is running like a champ. The 335i work was a bit more involved I'm afraid. Even with only 36k miles, at 11 years old the car had the usual BMW leaks: oil pan, valve cover, oil filter housing. She also needed new tires and new engine mounts. This was pretty involved work. While she was in we also did all the fluids, spark plugs and filters. On pickup Tom went over everything with me and even showed me the old cracked oil pan, bad oil filter housing and old mounts. This was no doubt a messy job and the engine bay was spotless. The

I have a 2015 Mercedes ML250 Diesel and I accidentally put DEF fluid into the fuel tank. I'm no fool. I did all of my research on how to fix the problem so I knew EXACTLY what needed to be done and about how much it should cost. For some reason, and I suspect this was a ploy to get more money out of me.. they tried to go through the Gas cap and fuel filler neck to suck the fuel out. Mercedes has some electrical stuff in place to stop that from happening. It's so people can't steal your fuel. This tactic did not work. That's all fine and dandy but they CHARGED ME labor for an unsuccessful repair tactic. The proper procedure is to lift the truck up, drop the fuel tank and drain the fuel that way. Then flush the lines and replace the fuel filter. Total cost should be no more than $400-$500. On top of that they tried to overcharge me for a fuel filter and labor when it literally only takes 20 minutes. This is AFTER I'm paying for THEIR mistake. I said absolutely not replaced the fuel filter myself. Overall, I ended up paying over $840 for something that should've been cut and dry and only cost $500 tops. I was out of work at the time so those few extra hundred bucks HURT. You can't tr

Thank you for the team at Potter's Precision for getting my wife's Mercedes E350 back to tip top performance. Prior to taking the car to Potter's I was afraid it might be time to purchase another car for my wife. My wife was sad because she loves her car she affectionately calls "Sadie" This car belonged to my parents and has a special place in my heart as well. Tom's attention to detail was greatly appreciated.

What a great experience at a reasonable price! I recently purchased an SL 550 on an online auction and I wanted a mechanic to look it over to let me know if there were any issues. Tom Potter and his team did a careful inspection and went over the results thoroughly. He also took the time to walk me through all the features of the vehicle and how they worked. I couldn't be more pleased with the service they provided and the personable/professional approach. Richard and Christina were great as well. I highly recommend Potter Precision Imports.
